Construction Update - April 18, 2025
Illinois Route 7 Channelization Project Paves the Way!
Last week, the contractor removed pavement and curbs, excavated earth and installed aggregate base course on the new roadway. This base forms the first layer for the new roadway. The contractor also installed the underdrain and poured concrete for the new curb throughout the project site.
This week, the contractor continues installing new curbs and will begin preparing for sidewalk and driveway installation once all curbs are complete. The first layer of asphalt in Stage 1 is scheduled to begin Monday, April 21st.

Illinois Route 7 Channelization Project Enters New Phase!
The contractor has begun curb and pavement removal, as well as roadway excavation in the Stage 1 construction phase, which includes the following:
During work hours, driveway and side street access may be temporarily impacted. The contractor will restore access with temporary aggregate by the end of each day and will notify you in advance if your access will be affected.
Once removals are complete, curb and driveway installations will be scheduled. You will receive further updates before work begins in front of your home or business.

- South side (odd addresses): Madison St. to 7th St.
- North side (even addresses): 7th St. to the east project limit (Taco Patio).

Construction Update - December 19, 2024
Recently, the contractor continued with storm sewer installation, completing installation west of the box culvert and beginning work in front of Dairy Queen and between Milne Creek and Grandview Avenue.
The contractor will also be finishing extensive site clean up. Construction will be on hold the next two weeks for the upcoming holidays. |
Construction Update - December 6, 2024
Recently, the contractor poured the concrete foundation for the new lighting cabinet.
This week, the contractor will continue miscellaneous storm sewer installations near the ditch enclosure box culvert and eat of Dairy Queen. The contractor will also be cleaning up the site in preparation for the winter. As we approach the winter season, the contractor will complete miscellaneous work throughout the cold months as long as weather allows. Happy Holidays, Drive Safe! |
Construction Update - November 21, 2024
Over the past two weeks, the contractor installed the waterproof membrane on top of the new concrete box culverts, which allows water to flow under a road, railroad, or trail from one side to another and support improved drainage flow. The contractor also filled potholes throughout the project area.
Next week, the contractor will begin preparations to install a pressure release valve as a part of water system improvements. Happy Holidays, Drive Safe! |
